What is the selection process of banks through the IBPS Exam?

Generally, the bank recruitment notification has been released by a private recruitment agency called the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. Every year this recruiting agency has released the notification to enroll the candidates for various levels of posts. Mostly the posts under the recruitment process are Clerk, Probationary Officer & Specialist Officer. These posts have been notified for the banks such as Regional Rural Banks (RRB) & Public Sector Banks. The aim of conducting the recruitment drive is to select the eligible candidates for the above posts and organizations. The selection process is getting varied depending upon the nature of the posts. The details are given below for your reference.

IBPS RRB:

This consists of posts such as

(i) IBPS RRB Office Assistant

(ii) IBPS RRB Officer Scale_I

(iii) IBPS RRB Officer Scale-II

(iv) IBPS RRB Officer Scale-III

IBPS:

(i) IBPS Clerk

(ii) IBPS Probationary Officer(PO)

(iii) IBPS Specialist Officer(SO)

Eligibility Criteria:

Before starting your online application Form process for various posts, candidates should satisfy all the requirements including age, upper age limit, and educational qualification. All conditions are specially designed to choose deserving candidates who fit for the respective posts. If they do not meet the eligibility criteria their application may get rejected at a later stage. So, let’s look at the IBPS eligibility criteria for the various posts. The eligibility shall be measured by 3 parameters. They are

(i) Nationality

(ii) Age Limit

(iii) Educational Qualification

IBPS Eligibility – Nationality

  1. A citizen of India,

  2. A subject of Nepal or Bhutan

  3. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary will be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.



IBPS Age Limit 2020:

As per the prescribed age criteria given in the official notification, candidates should possess

Minimum Age Limit – 20 years

Maximum Age Limit – 28 years

IBPS Educational Qualification:

As per the prescribed educational qualification given in the official notification, candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University.

IBPS PO Selection Process:

The Selection process for the IBPS PO consists of 3 stages namely

(i) Prelims

(ii) Mains & Descriptive Paper

(iii) Interview

IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I Selection Process:

The Selection process for the IBPS RRB Officer Scale-I consists of 3 stages namely

(i) Prelims

(ii) Mains & Descriptive Paper

(iii) Interview

For Clerk & Office Assistant posts:

The Marks obtained in the Prelims exam will not be considered for the final selection. It is just a qualifying stage to the mains exam. The marks obtained in the Mains exam will only be considered for the final selection.

Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of the Online Main examination to be considered to be shortlisted for provisional allotment. Depending on the number of vacancies available in each state, candidates will be shortlisted for provisional allotment.

For PO & Officer Scale-I:

The Marks obtained in the Prelims exam will not be considered for the final selection. It is just a qualifying stage to the mains exam. The marks obtained in the Mains exam & interview will be considered for the IBPS PO Result.

Each candidate will be required to obtain a minimum score in each test of the Online Main Examination to be considered to be shortlisted for an interview. Depending on the number of vacancies available, an adequate number of candidates in each category not exceeding three times of the declared vacancies in each state shall be called for interview, subject to availability. Prior to the completion of the interview process, scores obtained in the Online Main Examination will not be shared with the candidates shortlisted for interview
