1). Speed down stream = 12 / (48 / 60) km / hr
= (12 × 60) / 48 = 15 km / hr
Speed upstream = 12 / (80 / 60) km / hr
= (12 × 60) / 80 = 9 km / hr
Speed in still water = (15 + 9) / 2 = 12 km / hr
2). Required percentage = (22  / 24) × 100 = 91(2 / 3)%
3). x + (1 / x) = 3
(x + 1 / x)2 = 9
x2 + 1 / x2 + 2.x.(1 /x) = 9
x2 + 1 / x2 + 2 = 9
x2 + 1 / x2 = 9 – 2 = 7

[x3  + (1 / x) ] / [x2 – x + 1] = x (x2 + 1 / x2) / x (x – 1 + (1 / x)
